We are right in the thiccc of Mercury Retrograde. Can you feel it? The tech glitches. The travel hiccups. The conversations that land sideways.

If you’re feeling that slow drag and seeing delays pop up, well you’re not alone. I’m right there with ya.

This past week I stopped to buy flowers for my upcoming sound bath. I picked out a beautiful fall bouquet, got to the counter, reached for my wallet… it wasn’t there. I left it 😓 With no time to go back and get it, I threw my hands up. It wasn’t meant to be. Although the flowers stayed behind, it was a good reminder to slow down, not push, and let the day unfold the way it wanted to.

Delays like that? I can roll with.

But miscommunication has been harder to navigate.

There have been moments where my partner is explaining something, and I’m genuinely agreeing with him, fully on his side… but my tone comes out off, interpreted as irritation. Suddenly he’s confused, I’m confused, and we’re both trying to figure out how a normal conversation turned heavy.

Mercury retrograde has a knack for putting a subtle echo on your words so they arrive in a shape you did not intend.

What is Mercury Retrograde?

If you are new to this, Mercury retrograde is when the planet Mercury appears to move backward in the sky from our point of view on Earth.

Astrologically, Mercury rules communication, travel, schedules, and technology. So when it’s reversing, those areas can feel a bit scrambled. More typos. Missed signals. Delays that make you stop and exhale.

Now I am no astrologer, but I have noticed this pattern repeat and I keep asking myself: what is this stretch of time trying to teach?

Here’s what I’ve been leaning into…

➡️ Ways to Navigate the Retrograde

Take one full breath before reacting

Doesn’t have to be a dramatic yogic breath. Just a mindful inhale and exhale can buy you a moment to respond from your center instead of firing from frustration. Even a two-second pause can keep a small misunderstanding from turning into a giant one.

Give yourself more time than you think you need

Nothing good grows in the energy of rushing. It makes you scattered, tense and less kind than you mean to be. This retrograde I’ve been padding every drive, every task, every plan. Even if I’m running late, I refuse to sprint out the door. Arriving slightly behind schedule with calm energy beats arriving on time buzzing with stress.

Lean into flexibility and trust

If a plan shifts, let it. If your computer crashes or a conversation bumps, give yourself space to cool down.

Mercury Retrograde has a way of nudging us toward patience, whether we want the lesson or not. Try to meet things halfway.

Allow yourself to slow down

I live in one of the busiest cities, Los Angeles, where everything moves fast and everyone seems to be in a rush. Retrograde has been a reminder that I do not have to match that pace. Slowing down is not falling behind. Clarity > Chaos.

When I let myself move a little softer, the day feels less combative and more supportive. Even simple moments like walking to my car or making breakfast feel easier when I stop trying to outrun the clock.

🌿 Mindful Mantra

Say it with me:

I choose clarity. I choose softness. I choose to flow.

Retrograde isn’t here to punish you. It’s here to show you what needs attention. What needs patience. What needs softness.

This phase will pass. It always does.

But the awareness you build will stay with you long after Mercury goes direct.
